Privacy

Nothing comes to me.

EFClip has no account, no analytics and no server of mine. This page lists everything it stores and every connection it makes.

Effective 28 October 2026. Applies to EFClip for Mac, version 1.0 and later.

Who is responsible

EFClip is made by Peter Feranc (EEF), Slovakia. Questions about privacy: [email protected].

What stays on your Mac

Everything you copy, as long as EFClip saves it: text, images, and the pins, categories and names you add. It's stored in EFClip's sandboxed folder, ~/Library/Containers/eu.eef.efclip, and protected like the rest of your files (FileVault, if you use it). Settings › Storage decides how long it stays; Clear History removes it.

EFClip never saves content that apps mark as concealed or temporary, which is how password managers label passwords, and it skips the apps and text patterns on your ignore list.

What goes to your iCloud, only if you turn sync on

With Sync with iPhone on, EFClip copies the history to the private CloudKit database of your Apple ID, so EFKey on your iPhone can show it. Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy.

  • Encrypted end to end: the text, images, item names, category names and the order of the filter chips. Apple cannot read them and neither can I.
  • Readable by Apple: when an item was created and changed, and whether it is pinned. Record names are derived with a secret key, so they don't reveal the text.

Sync is off until you turn it on. Delete from iCloud… in Settings › Sync removes the copy in iCloud.

Connections EFClip makes

ToWhenWhat
Apple iCloud (CloudKit)Only with sync onYour history, encrypted as described above.
efclip.appWhen EFClip starts, every six hours, and when you choose Check for UpdatesDownloads the update feed and, if you accept, the update. Like any web request, the server sees your IP address and app version for that request. I don't keep logs beyond what the server needs to run, and I don't combine them with anything.

That's all. No analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising, no tracking. Links you click in the app open in your browser.

Permissions

Accessibility is requested only if you turn on Paste right away, and used only to press ⌘V for you. EFClip doesn't read the screen or what you type.

This website

efclip.app uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. Your choice of light or dark appearance is remembered in your browser's local storage and never leaves it.

Children

EFClip doesn't collect personal data from anyone, children included.

If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
